Recently, the 2026 Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Work Conference was grandly held in Chengdu. The conference reviewed the province's scientific and technological work during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and in 2025, and made overall plans for scientific and technological development in the 15th Five-Year Plan period and key tasks for 2026.Dong Weimin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Executive Vice Governor and Deputy Director of the Provincial Party Committee Science and Technology Commission, attended the conference and delivered a speech. Yang Xin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Provincial Government, was also present. Lu Songming, Director of the Provincial Party Committee Science and Technology Office, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, presided over the conference. Tongwei was invited to attend and delivered a speech as the only corporate representative at the conference.

At the conference, Xie Weiwei, Deputy Director of Tongwei Global Innovation R&D Center, delivered a speech on behalf of the company titled Carrying Out Generic Technology Research to Promote the Coordinated Development of Key Industrial Chains. He noted that China's photovoltaic industry is currently undergoing in-depth adjustment, and the key to breaking through difficulties and responding to international competition lies in sustained technological innovation and efficient industrial chain coordination.
Tongwei has always taken scientific and technological innovation as the core driver for steady and long-term development. The company has built the world's largest photovoltaic innovation R&D center and been approved as one of the first national-level manufacturing pilot platforms in China, establishing a full-chain innovation system of "basic research + pilot transformation + industrial application".
With the guidance and support of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Tongwei has led the establishment of the Sichuan Advanced Photovoltaic Innovation Consortium, bringing together nearly 20 universities, research institutes and upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain. Focusing on three core technological revolutions — silver-free metallization, steel plate printing and transfer printing technology — the consortium is committed to breaking through generic technical bottlenecks in the photovoltaic industry, accelerating the cultivation and leadership of new quality productive forces in the photovoltaic sector.

2026 marks the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Sichuan province will focus on building an innovation highland in western China and a stronger province of science and technology with higher standards. It will strengthen the seamless integration of innovation and industrial chains, promote the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements, deepen the integration of science and technology with finance, and build a high-quality and efficient scientific and technological service system.
Going forward, Tongwei will fully implement the 15th Five-Year Plan development strategy, continue to play its leading role in the industry, boost the coordinated development of the industrial chain through generic technology research, and help upstream and downstream enterprises enhance their core competitiveness together.
