From November 17 to 20, the 9th China International Solar and Energy Storage Industry Conference 2026 will be held in Chengdu, China. As one of the most influential industry organizations in India’s solar and energy storage sector, the National Solar Energy Federation of India has confirmed its participation in the conference. Its participation will not only bring a South Asian market perspective to the event, but also help advance cooperation between the Chinese and Indian solar and energy storage industries toward a new stage of greater institutionalization and deeper engagement.

1.India’s Solar and Energy Storage Industry  The “First Gateway” to Global Markets

Established in 2013 and headquartered in New Delhi, the National Solar Energy Federation of India is a leading solar industry association and renewable energy policy advocacy organization in India. Its membership encompasses developers, manufacturers, EPC contractors, system integrators, installers, and small and medium-sized enterprises, covering the entire photovoltaic industry value chain. **Its members account for approximately 95% or more of India’s total solar capacity,** making it the largest renewable energy industry organization in South Asia and one of the largest solar associations in the world.

Over the past decade, the National Solar Energy Federation of India has been deeply involved in the formulation of India’s renewable energy policies, **playing a key role in major policy changes involving reverse auctions, net metering, power curtailment accountability, and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.** The federation also serves on several specialized committees of India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. It has been granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and is a founding member of the Global Solar Council. It has established strategic partnerships with organizations and industry peers in Europe, the United States, Germany, South Korea, and other countries, serving as the “first gateway” for India’s solar and energy storage industry to connect with global markets.

2.Seizing Market Growth Opportunities   Building Bridges for Industry Cooperation

India’s solar and energy storage market is entering a historic window of rapid growth. According to BloombergNEF (BNEF), **India’s new photovoltaic installations are expected to exceed 50 GW in 2026, representing a 6% year-on-year increase and surpassing the United States to become the world’s second-largest solar market.** India is currently accelerating toward its ambitious target of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, with solar energy regarded as the dominant source. As of the end of March this year, India’s cumulative solar capacity had reached 150.26 GW.

The high penetration of solar power is creating increasing pressure on grid integration and peak-load management, driving rapid growth in the energy storage market. India has introduced energy storage obligation policies, while development is accelerating in areas such as long-duration energy storage, agrivoltaics, and green hydrogen.

Against this backdrop, the National Solar Energy Federation of India plays an irreplaceable role as a “bridge” connecting the government and industry. Domestically, it brings together the needs and interests of companies across the entire value chain, provides policy input to the central and state governments, and works to address industry challenges such as power curtailment compensation, power purchase agreement (PPA) compliance, and open access. Internationally, it works with global partners on technology, standards, financing, and investment, while promoting opportunities in the Indian market to the global industry.

3.Deepening International Cooperation   Building an Asian Solar and Energy Storage Ecosystem Together

As two of the world’s major markets with highly complete solar and energy storage industry value chains, China and India have complementary industrial strengths and broad opportunities for cooperation. The participation of the National Solar Energy Federation of India in the 9th China International Solar and Energy Storage Industry Conference 2026 will bring multiple benefits to both sides.

First, it will establish a platform for policy dialogue,** facilitating exchanges and mutual learning on issues such as energy storage obligation mechanisms, green certificate trading, and carbon border adjustment.

Second, it will open channels for technology cooperation,** promoting the localized application of advanced battery technologies and grid-forming energy storage solutions in the Indian market.

Third, it will strengthen trade and investment synergies,** helping Chinese companies identify opportunities in India’s rapidly growing solar and energy storage market, while enabling Indian companies to connect with China’s mature supply chains and engineering capabilities.

The participation of the National Solar Energy Federation of India will further strengthen the cooperation network between China and India, as well as across the broader Asian solar and energy storage industry, injecting strong momentum into the global energy transition.

Join us at the 9th China International Solar and Energy Storage Industry Conference 2026 to explore new opportunities in the solar and energy storage market and jointly envision a greener energy future!
