As an authoritative industry organization dedicated to Italy’s photovoltaic sector, Italia Solare has approximately 1,500 members, including companies, professionals, equipment owners, local institutions, and general supporters, making it the photovoltaic industry association with the broadest membership base in Europe. Leveraging its resources across the entire value chain, the association is committed not only to promoting the dissemination of accurate information and training on the role of photovoltaic technology in today’s and tomorrow’s energy systems, but also to continuously cooperating with relevant institutions to help optimize and simplify the existing regulatory framework.

The association’s core mission is to represent the legitimate interests of the photovoltaic industry, promote the establishment of a stable and transparent regulatory framework, **support Italy in implementing its National Energy and Climate Plan and accelerate the decarbonization of society as a whole**. Italia Solare continues to submit industry recommendations to Italian energy regulators and Parliament, focusing on key issues such as simplifying project approval procedures, optimizing grid connection rules, expanding renewable energy communities, promoting the coordinated development of photovoltaics and energy storage, and advancing agrivoltaics. Through these efforts, the association promotes policy implementation and optimization while removing bottlenecks hindering industry development.

2.Transformation and Upgrading: Anchoring the Direction of Energy Transition

The newly elected 2026–2029 Board of Directors of Italia Solare will focus on the integration of solar and energy storage, the development of energy communities, the improvement of grid connection mechanisms, and the strengthening of Europe’s domestic photovoltaic industry chain, driving the power system to evolve from a model centered solely on electricity generation toward a new system featuring coordinated generation, energy storage, consumption, and smart dispatch.

The association regularly publishes authoritative reports on the photovoltaic industry, analyzing market segment developments based on publicly available grid data and assessing trends in distributed power plants, large-scale ground-mounted projects, and agrivoltaics, providing objective references for corporate investment decisions. At the same time, it actively conducts public education and awareness initiatives to communicate the practical value of photovoltaics in enhancing energy security, reducing electricity costs, and lowering carbon emissions, thereby promoting the adoption of distributed photovoltaics across commercial and industrial parks and households.

In terms of technology development, Italia Solare strongly advocates innovative models such as energy storage integration, agrivoltaics, building-integrated photovoltaics, and community-shared energy. The association **calls for accelerated development of energy storage capacity** to accommodate more photovoltaic generation, mitigate grid fluctuations, and create favorable conditions for the large-scale integration of renewable energy.

3.Openness and Connectivity: Building a Global Bridge for Green Cooperation

In recent years, Italy has continued to advance the development of renewable energy. According to data from Terna, Italy’s national transmission system operator, **Italy added approximately 7.2 GW of renewable energy capacity in 2025, while photovoltaic power generation increased by 25% year on year to 44.3 TWh, reaching a record high**. Renewable energy met 41% of Italy’s total electricity demand.

As of the end of March this year, Italy’s total installed renewable energy capacity had reached 85.2 GW, including approximately 45 GW of photovoltaic capacity and approximately 13.8 GW of wind power capacity. Italy’s National Energy and Climate Plan proposes that **by 2030, the country’s total installed renewable energy capacity should reach approximately 131 GW, while the share of renewable energy in electricity consumption should increase to approximately 65%**.

With a focus on the European market, Italia Solare actively participates in exchanges across the European and global photovoltaic industries, connects with industry organizations in multiple countries, and shares practical experience in the energy transition, laying a solid policy foundation for interaction and cooperation across the global solar and energy storage industry.

From November 17 to 20, the 9th China International Solar and Energy Storage Industry Conference 2026 will be held in Chengdu, China. Leveraging this international industry event, Italia Solare will engage in in-depth dialogue with colleagues from the global solar and energy storage industry, exchange industry practices, explore areas of potential cooperation, and jointly expand new opportunities for global cooperation in the new energy sector.
