On September 28, Tongwei Global Innovation R&D Center (hereinafter referred to as the "R&D Center") announced a significant milestone—the sector's first fully automated megawatt-level perovskite/c-Si tandem solar cell pilot line was fully connected, demonstrating the R&D Center's continued leadership in the industrialization of tandem solar cells. Senior executives from Tongwei Co., Ltd., including Xing Guoqiang, PV Chief Technology Officer, Su Shijie, Assistant General Manager of the PV Technology Center, Long Wei, Director of the Cell Development Department II, and key technical personnel from the PV Technology Center jointly witnessed this pivotal achievement.

Perovskite/c-Si Tandem Solar Cell Test Line Successfully Completed

Perovskite/c-Si tandem solar cells are regarded as a critical photovoltaic technology pathway for achieving ultra-high efficiency solar energy conversion in the future, as they can surpass the efficiency limits of single-junction cells by leveraging breakthroughs at the physical material level. Since its establishment in Q3 2022, Tongwei's perovskite/silicon tandem solar cell laboratory has consistently focused on industrialization, adopting a technical route compatible with existing heterojunction production lines. Key efforts have been directed toward tandem solar cell structure design, high-quality conformal film formation, interface passivation, low-temperature metallization, and module encapsulation. To date, the laboratory has achieved a record efficiency of 34.78%, with the 210 half-cell full-size cell (total area) efficiency reaching 28.39%. In advancing mass production, the laboratory has taken advantage of Tongwei's extensive experience in crystalline silicon cell production while optimizing production line layouts and process controls to adapt to the characteristics of tandem solar cells. The successful completion of this pilot line marks Tongwei's official transition of tandem solar cell technology from the laboratory to industrialization, opening a new chapter in PV technology evolution.。

The Tongwei Global Innovation R&D Center has comprehensively deployed mainstream cell and module technologies, including TOPCon, HJT, BC, and perovskite/c-Si tandem solar cells, continuously exploring the "deep waters" of PV technology to provide robust technical support for sustainable corporate development.
