On September 21, the first batch of Tongwei modules for the Datang Southeast Xizang Clean Energy Base Project was officially shipped from TW Solar Technology's Jintang Base, marking a critical phase in module supply and construction for the 300MW PV project in Yiqing Township, Basu County, Qamdo City, Xizang Autonomous Region.
First batch of modules shipped
As a key component of the "hydro-solar-wind integrated" clean energy base in Southeast Xizang, the 300MW photovoltaic project in Yiqing Township, Basu County, will transmit electricity to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area via the under-construction Xizang-Guangdong Ultra-High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) Project. This project will serve as a vital link in the "Xizang Power to Guangdong" clean energy system. The Xizang-Guangdong UHVDC Project, the world’s most powerful and technologically advanced flexible UHVDC transmission project with a total investment of approximately RMB 53.2 billion, is scheduled to be fully operational by 2029. Upon completion, it will transmit over 43 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The smooth progress of this project provides strong support for the construction of the Southeast Xizang Clean Energy Base and lays a solid foundation for cross-regional green power supply.
Located in Yiqing Township, Basu County, Qamdo, Xizang Autonomous Region, the project site sits at an altitude ranging from 4,317.78 meters to 4,458.06 meters, with a total planned capacity of 300MW and a DC-side installed capacity of 320.04MWp. The project utilizes Tongwei's 715WTNC high-efficiency modules, with a total land area of approximately 5,364.02 mu for the photovoltaic zone. It comprises 76 fixed-mount photovoltaic arrays and is equipped with a 220kV booster station. The overall technical solution demonstrates leading-edge performance, specifically adapted for ultra-high altitude harsh environments.

Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate 450 million kWh annually, equivalent to reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 400,000 tons per year, significantly optimizing the regional energy structure and increasing the share of clean energy. Meanwhile, the project will also bring notable ecological and economic benefits to the local area, achieving a synergy between environmental protection and socio-economic development.
