In his keynote speech titled Development of Low-Silver/Silver-Free Heterojunction (HJT) Cell and Module Technologies, Liao Jie systematically introduced Tongwei's breakthroughs and technology roadmap in silver-coated copper and copper interconnection for HJT cells. He noted that the company began HJT technology R&D in 2018, established China's first GW-level HJT production line in 2021, initiated the industry's first 210 half-cell HJT project, and completed the world's first double-sided microcrystalline development in 2022, achieving a record cell conversion efficiency of 26.49%. By establishing a three-in-one technology engine combining "double-sided microcrystalline + silver-free copper interconnection + 908 module," Tongwei has achieved cost reduction and efficiency gains, unlocking mass production potential for HJT and advancing industry technology to new heights.
Through full-open steel plate printing technology, Tongwei optimized grid line aspect ratios, reducing silver content in silver-coated copper paste from 50% to 10%. With lower-silver-content pastes entering mass production, HJT silver consumption is expected to drop to 2.45mg/W. Regarding copper interconnection technology, Tongwei has developed an industry-leading THL solution scalable to GW-level production. Through the integrated development of HJT and cell module technology, Tongwei continues to expand its core technologies. Its self-developed THC 210 high-efficiency module achieved a record output of 790.8W under standard 2384*1303mm dimensions, marking the 11th HJT module world record set in March 2025. Certified by TÜV, the full-area conversion efficiency of this module reaches 25.46%, the highest value for the full-area efficiency of crystalline silicon modules tested by authoritative third parties.
Looking ahead, Tongwei is leveraging its "Low-Silver/Silver-Free HJT Technology Engine" to help the PV industry overcome resource constraints. Through strategic deployment in TOPCon, HJT, BC, perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem technologies, and all mainstream future solar cell/module technologies, Tongwei transforms every sunbeam into green energy, injecting momentum into China's "Dual Carbon" goals.
