Speech by Liu Shuqi, Chairwoman and CEO of Tongwei Co., Ltd.

In her speech, Chairwoman Liu Shuqi stated that since the birth of New China's first high-purity crystalline silicon in Leshan, after more than half a century of pursuing "light" and chasing the "chain," China's photovoltaic industry has transformed from relying on external markets, raw materials, and equipment to catching up, advancing in parallel, and continuously surpassing, ultimately achieving a magnificent global leadership. This industry, once "choked" by others, has become an end-to-end, self-controllable world-class business card representing China's new quality productive forces, a representative of China's "new three treasures" in foreign trade, and a key force in promoting the realization of the national "dual carbon" goals and global energy transition. Currently, China's photovoltaic industry is facing temporary difficulties such as supply-demand imbalance and intensified competition, requiring comprehensive efforts from both supply and demand sides to promote the industry to quickly emerge from "involutionary" competition. With further in-depth market adjustments, continuous optimization and improvement of industry policies, and continuous breakthroughs in industry technology innovation, the photovoltaic industry will gradually emerge from this round of adjustment cycles. She expressed confidence that through the organic combination and joint efforts of an "effective market" and a "capable government," China's photovoltaic industry will continue to lead the world.

Chairwoman Liu stated that from a long-term development perspective, the photovoltaic industry always possesses huge development potential. Industry collaboration is the key path to cope with market fluctuations and achieve sustainable development, and it is also the current breakthrough path. The silicon industry chain covers multiple links including industrial silicon, high-purity crystalline silicon, and silicon wafers, with each link interdependent and influencing each other. She hopes that under the market-oriented regulation of the industry, the self-discipline and collaboration of enterprises, the policy regulation of competent authorities, and the supervision and guidance of industry associations, the photovoltaic industry can quickly overcome difficulties and break the "involutionary" competition. She also hopes to strengthen cooperation with industry colleagues, integrate resources, overcome common industry problems, enhance the technological innovation capabilities of the entire industry chain, and create a mutually beneficial industry ecosystem. Through the joint efforts, all parties will overcome current difficulties and jointly write a new chapter in the development of China's silicon industry chain.
