Tongwei Invited to SEMI Advanced N-type Solar Cell Technology and Standards Forum

On May 15, the SEMI Advanced N-type Solar Cell Technology and Standards Forum organized by SEMI, a global top-tier industry association of semiconductor equipment and materials, was successfully held in Xuancheng, Anhui Province. Leveraging SEMI's over 50 years of experience in international standard setting and its global network of over 500 photovoltaic member companies, the conference aimed to promote industry progress, support continuous efficiency improvements, and foster sustainable industry development. Dr. Long Wei, Director of the PV Technology Center at Tongwei Co., Ltd., was invited to attend and deliver a keynote speech.


In his keynote speech "Roadmap for 780W Silicon Heterojunction Solar Modules", Dr. Long Wei comprehensively presented Tongwei's heterojunction (HJT) research and development achievements, along with development pathways for 780W+ HJT and copper-interconnect modules and other related content.

By 2025, Tongwei has planned and is promoting the research and development of multiple cutting-edge technologies, officially establishing the technical development path for 780W+ HJT and copper interconnect modules. Through innovative applications of 908 technology (Tongwei's self-developed 0BB technology), Tongwei's THC modules have achieved breakthrough improvements in environmental reliability and outdoor power generation performance, enabling higher ROI for end customers. At the conference, Dr. Long Wei also emphasized the significant development potential of HJT technology, which is expected to achieve a significant increase in the photovoltaic market share in the future, and expressed hope that industry colleagues would maintain positive expectations for this technology roadmap.

As an industry benchmark, Tongwei has achieved remarkable accomplishments in the research and development of HJT technology. As early as 2018, Tongwei began deploying HJT technology and continuously expanded its core technologies, implementing a "cost reduction and efficiency increase" ecosystem from three aspects: bifacial microcrystalline technology, copper interconnect silver-free metallization, and 0BB module technology. The combined effect of these three aspects has opened the door to the mass production of HJT, pushing industry technology to a new level. Currently, under the 2384*1303mm standard format, Tongwei's independently developed THC 210 high-efficiency module has a maximum output power of 790.8 watts, breaking the HJT module record for the eleventh time, with a module efficiency of 25.46% (certified by TÜV), which is the highest value for the full-area efficiency of crystalline silicon modules tested by authoritative third parties.


Tongwei consistently regards technological innovation as the core driving force for enterprise development. Relying on the global innovation research and development center as its technological engine, Tongwei has built a complete research and development platform covering all mainstream technologies, including TOPCon, HJT, BC, and perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem cells. In the future, Tongwei will continue to increase its investment in research and development, accelerate the transformation of technological achievements, promote the upgrading of the industrial ecosystem, and contribute to the low-carbon transformation of the global energy structure.
