From April 16 to 17, the 7th Perovskite and Tandem Technology Forum, organized by ASIACHEM Consulting, was took place in Changzhou, Jiangsu. The conference discussed topics such as the outlook of the PV industry and the market for heterojunction, perovskite, and tandem cells. In his speech, themed "Progress in Mass Production Technology Development of Commercial-Size Perovskite/Silicon Tandem Cells and Modules", Dr. Zhang introduced the technical background and industrialization progress of perovskite/silicon tandem cells, Tongwei's R&D progress in perovskite/silicon tandem technology, and future prospects for tandem cell technology.
Dr. Zhang stated that the tandem technology route, which is compatible with existing heterojunction production lines, can achieve high-conformal perovskite film formation and overall optimization of tandem devices on commercial-size textured thin silicon bottom cells through systematic regulation of wide-window process formulations and passivation technology, based on the reaction mechanism and bottlenecks of the gas phase deposition-solution two-step method. Currently, the research and development efficiency of small-area tandem cells has reached 34.17%, and the efficiency of 210 half-cell full-size tandem cells has reached 26.62%. The full-process development technology for tandem modules has been completed, and it is expected that a tandem cell pilot line will be built by mid-2025.
Perovskite/silicon tandem cell technology is a key area of technical development for Tongwei, with significant R&D investments already made. Since the establishment of the perovskite/silicon tandem cell laboratory, Tongwei has achieved substantial results in technology research and development In the future, the development of Tongwei's perovskite/silicon tandem cells will closely follow the technology roadmap for improving the quality and efficiency of silicon-based cells. This will be achieved by integrating Tongwei's unique 210 half-cell platform, wafer thinning, silver-free metallization, and 0BB technologies to continuously promote the mass production of perovskite/silicon tandem cells.
