On April 12, the faculty and students of "ECO Explorer" from the School of Economics and Management (SEM) of Tsinghua University visited Yongxiang Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Tongwei, for an in-depth academic visits and exchanges. The faculty and students visited Yongxiang Digital Experience Center, PV technology, energy technology, and carried out a private sharing session themed "Joint Research · Shared Benefits · Mutual Progress". Liu Hanyuan, Deputy to the NPC, Vice Chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tongwei Group, warmly received the delegation.
The faculty and students of "ECO Explorer" Program visited Yongxiang Digital Experience Center
At Yongxiang Co., Ltd. in Leshan, the faculty and students of "ECO Explorer" Program first visited the Yongxiang Digital Experience Center, PV Technology, and Energy Technology. The "garden-style" green factory of Yongxiang presented a refreshing sight to the visitors. They also visited and learned about the complete process of intelligent manufacturing of high-purity polysilicon in China, and were deeply impressed by Yongxiang Co., Ltd.'s leading position in aspects such as technological innovation, lean management, and advanced indicators over the past two decades, as well as its 5G construction and intelligent and smart production.
Through the site visit, the visitors gained a deep understanding of the strong capabilities and relentless efforts behind the rise of Chinese PV enterprises. Furthermore, the advanced management experience, forward-looking layout, and strong innovation DNA demonstrated by Tongwei, which underpin Yongxiang's global leadership, were highly praised by the delegation.
Scene of the private sharing session
At the private sharing session of "Joint Research · Shared Benefits · Mutual Progress - New Industrial Landscape · Zen-like Craftsmanship: Breaking Through Under the Reconstruction of the Global Industrial Chain" held on the same day, Chairman Liu Hanyuan made a keynote speech titled Understanding Business Principles: Corporate Management and Evergreen Wisdom - Development and Reflections on Tongwei's PV New Energy Industry. Chairman Liu noted that over the past decade, China's PV industry has weathered significant challenges, including the joint "anti-dumping and countervailing" measures from Europe and the United States and the global financial crisis. However, through the relentless efforts and continuous innovation of Chinese enterprises and entrepreneurs, remarkable achievements have been made, with the industry now holding over 85% of the global market share. Erik Solheim, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, praised China's PV as a great gift from China to all mankind and a significant contribution to the world. Sonia Dunlop, CEO of the Global Solar Council, stated that China is "saving" the world with PV, and China's PV and energy storage industry has made a huge contribution to the global energy transition. The PV industry is merely a microcosm of China's industrial development. Over the past 10-15 years, China has evolved from catching up to keeping pace, and ultimately becoming a leader. This is not an accident for a single industry or sector, but rather the inevitable result of the overall development of China's national industrial manufacturing and R&D innovation capabilities over more than 40 years of reform and opening up.
Chairman Liu Hanyuan Shares Insights on the Theme
On-site exchanges and communications
During the exchange and communication session, the faculty and students actively discussed and exchanged ideas with Chairman Liu Hanyuan on aspects such as the future of PV, the energy storage industry, and the stable development of enterprises. Regarding the future development of the PV industry, Chairman Liu Hanyuan said that every sector has its own recurring normal curve and cycle. Currently, more than half of the world's energy still comes from non-electric sources, with many countries, including China, having over 60% reliance on these sources. Under the background of global carbon neutrality, almost all non-electric energy is fossil energy, which means that today's non-electric energy and fossil energy will all be converted into electric energy coming from green and clean power generation in the next 20 or 30 years. Therefore, there is still huge room for development for the PV industry. The challenges currently faced by the sector are only temporary, and the "winter" will eventually pass.
Concerning the increasingly important energy storage sector, Chairman Liu emphasized its significance and vast potential. Energy storage encompasses electric vehicle batteries during the process of automotive electrification, which can store 100 kWh of electricity. If the number of electric vehicles in China reaches 500 million within the next 10 to 20 years, the stored electricity could power China's current grid for 5-7 days. Once the energy storage industry develops, it will reach a large scale. Tongwei is willing to look forward to and anticipate the future of this industry together with everyone. Furthermore, we firmly believe that corporate development should prioritize specialization, refinement, and strength before expansion. Only by achieving industry leadership can appropriate expansion occur. At the same time, maintaining focus and controlling boundaries are crucial for sustained growth and strength. This principle has been a cornerstone of Tongwei's stable development over the past four decades. In the future, Tongwei will also unswervingly develop the PV industry and actively contribute to the realization of the carbon neutrality goal and the global energy transition.
