Currently, China's energy transition is experiencing a "green" surge, characterized by the leapfrog development of wind power and PV sectors and the accelerated cultivation of emerging business forms such as new energy storage and hydrogen energy.
Against this background, Chengdu is building a national advanced manufacturing base, where private enterprises are committed to integrating industrial and technological innovation, setting several "global first" and "national first" records in the new energy sector. How will the "green productivity" of these private enterprises empower the high-quality development of the new energy sector?

Setting new records
Recording "global first" in cell panel shipments for eight consecutive years
Advanced energy, a characteristic advantaged industry in Chengdu, is being continuously consolidated and upgraded. Focusing on sub-sectors such as lithium batteries, PV, and hydrogen energy, Chengdu has strengthened the leading role of enterprise innovation to promote the rapid development of the new energy industry.
As the first Fortune 500 company in the global PV sector, Chengdu-based Tongwei Group continues to push the boundaries of innovation. Its products are exported to more than 70 countries and regions overseas, which are widely used in various "PV+" scenarios such as household rooftops, industrial and commercial distributed and centralized large-scale power stations.
According to the latest survey data from InfoLink, Tongwei has maintained the top position in global cell panel shipments for eight consecutive years. Backed by its robust technological innovation, Tongwei also ranks global first in the production and sales of high-purity crystalline silicon.
"Tongwei has participated in and witnessed the entire process of the China's PV industry evolving from small to large, from weak to strong, transitioning from catching up to keeping pace, and ultimately achieving surpassing and front-running in all aspects." Tongwei has rooted in Chengdu for more than 30 years. Now, the Company continues to consolidate its leading position in the global cell panel and high-purity crystalline silicon sectors. Liu Hanyuan, Deputy to the NPC, Vice Chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tongwei Group, noted that "Tongwei has always aligned with national strategies, prioritizing technological innovation for its development."
Behind the "green acceleration" of the sector lies a fundamental shift in the energy system from resource dependence to technology-driver.

At Tongwei Global Innovation R&D Center in Chengdu, a series of "scientific and technological feasts" for the future of new energy are unfolding, covering "efficient crystalline silicon cells and materials", "efficient and highly reliable modules", and "PV testing and analysis, and new technologies."
Recently, the Center has set a new global record again. As verified by the international authority TÜV Rheinland, Tongwei's THC210 high-efficiency heterojunction modules achieved a power output of 783.2W and a conversion efficiency exceeding 25.21% under the standard module size of 2384*1303mm. This achievement surpasses Tongwei's previous record and marks the eighth time the Company has broken the world record for heterojunction module power.
"Dive" into sub-sectors
Competing in industrial and scientific and technological innovation
As Mr. Liu Hanyuan said, "No matter which sector we are in, we should focus on the current hotspot issues and put our heart and soul into everything to become stronger and bigger, thereby promoting the steady development of enterprises." Drawing from Tongwei's entrepreneurial experience, he noted that the key to the growth of private enterprises lies in their ability to firmly establish themselves in their respective sectors and then maintain a strong position.

Deeply rooted in their respective sub-sectors and demonstrating robust innovation capabilities and market competitiveness—this vividly captures the development trajectory of Chengdu's private enterprises in the new energy sector.
As outlined in this year's Report on the Work of the Government, "efforts will be intensified to promote the integrated and clustered development of strategic emerging industries." According to the relevant person in charge of the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Economic and Information Technology and the Chengdu New Economic Development Commission, Chengdu has been approved for several pilot demonstration projects, including a national high-tech industrial base for the new energy industry, a national advanced manufacturing cluster for Chengdu-Deyang high-end energy equipment, and a national technology innovation center for hydrogen storage, transportation, and fueling equipment, providing solid support for the development of the industry.
Empowered by such policy and industrial environment, private enterprises have flourished, consistently making breakthroughs and innovations, and have become a mainstay in promoting high-quality economic development.
