In 2024, the installed capacity of power generation in China reached 3,350 GW, with a year-on-year increase of 14.6%. Among them, PV power generation saw the largest growth rate, increasing to 890 GW, with a year-on-year increase of 45.2%.

In 2024, total electricity consumption in China reached 9.8521 trillion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%, with industrial power generation above a certain scale accounting for 9.4181 trillion kWh.

In 2024, China's major power generation enterprises invested a cumulative total of RMB 1.1687 trillion in power supply projects, with a year-on-year increase of 12.1%, and invested RMB 608.3 billion in power grid projects, with a year-on-year of 15.3%.

Green Energy Certificates in China

By the end of 2024, China had issued a cumulative total of 4.955 billion Green Energy Certificates, with a year-on-year increase of 21.42 times. The cumulative number of transactions reached 553 million, with a year-on-year increase of 4.19 times, equivalent to 553 billion kWh of electricity.

Future Outlook

In 2025, China will accelerate its green and low-carbon transition and vigorously promote the development and utilization of wind and PV power: newly installed wind and PV power capacity will be about 200 GW throughout the year, and renewable energy consumption will exceed 1.1 billion tons of standard coal.
