Xinhua News Agency Chengdu, April 1 (Reporter Zou Wei) — Li Qiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council, conducted a research tour in Sichuan from March 30 to April 1. He emphasized the need to thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on green development and building an energy powerhouse, effectively implement the new energy security strategy, adhere to innovation-driven development, leverage resource endowment advantages, continuously expand green power supply, focus on advancing new-type power grid construction, accelerate energy structure adjustment and optimization, and provide strong support for high-quality economic and social development.

Li Qiang successively visited Chengdu and Deyang, inspecting new energy development and related equipment manufacturing enterprises. At the Tongwei Global Innovation and R&D Center, Li Qiang listened to introductions on photovoltaic technology breakthroughs and entered the workshop to examine battery module development. He said that in recent years, advances in photovoltaic technology have effectively improved solar energy utilization. Enterprises should be strongly supported in exploration and innovation, with increased R&D investment and efforts to break through key technology bottlenecks, open up various application scenarios, and accelerate large-scale application of new technologies. At the Yalong River Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., Li Qiang learned about the development of integrated hydro-wind-solar bases and listened to a report on Sichuan's new-type power grid construction. He pointed out that new-type power grid construction is of great significance for ensuring energy security and promoting green development. New architectures, new technologies, and new services should be actively explored, network construction improved, system synergy and regulation capabilities enhanced, and diversified demand support strengthened, to build a safe, reliable, green, low-carbon, resilient, and intelligent new-type power grid. Sichuan is an important clean energy base in China. It should promote multi-energy complementarity including hydropower, wind, solar, hydrogen, and natural gas, take the lead in clean energy development and utilization and new-type power grid construction, actively advance new-type energy system construction, and better drive related industrial development. At Sinomach Heavy Equipment Group Co., Ltd. and Dongfang Electric Corporation Dongfang Electric Machinery Co., Ltd., Li Qiang learned about the enterprises' latest scientific research achievements and examined nuclear power, hydropower equipment and core components. He encouraged the enterprises to target the frontiers of science and technology and market demand, promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies with manufacturing, continuously achieve new breakthroughs in clean energy equipment manufacturing, and better serve China's new energy industry development and energy transition.

Li Qiang visited the Minjiang River Zipingpu Water Control Project, inspected the Zipingpu Reservoir area, and learned about Sichuan's water conservancy construction. He then inspected the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. Li Qiang said that water management is a cause that benefits generations. The wisdom of water management should be inherited and developed, water conservancy facilities should be modernized, and the comprehensive functions of flood control, irrigation, water supply, power generation, and ecology should be better leveraged, so that new achievements in water management can benefit the people. At the "Tianfu Granary" 10,000-mu Wheat Yield Enhancement Demonstration Zone in Guanghan City, Li Qiang walked into the fields to examine wheat growth, rice seedling raising, and drone operations, and exchanged views with agricultural technology experts and grain-growing farmers. Li Qiang said that it is currently the spring plowing and sowing season. It is essential to seize the farming season and do well in agricultural material supply and technical services, increase the application of new technologies and equipment such as smart agricultural machinery, and ensure high-standard field management. The driving role of large-scale grain growers should be leveraged, agricultural management methods should be innovated, pro-agriculture policies should be implemented, and grain-growing income protection should be strengthened. Sustained efforts should be made in land improvement and improved seed breeding, the digital and intelligent transformation of agricultural production should be accelerated, and grain security assurance capabilities should be continuously enhanced.
