Tongwei High-Efficiency High-Bifaciality TOPCon Cells and Modules Win "SNEC Top 10 Highlights" Terawatt-Level Award

From June 3 to 5, the 19th International Solar Photovoltaic and Smart Energy Conference and Exhibition (SNEC) was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). At the event, the results of SNEC's "Top 10 Highlights" selection were announced, and Tongwei's high-efficiency high-bifaciality TOPCon cells and modules won the "SNEC Top 10 Highlights" Terawatt-Level Award. Meng Xiajie, Director of the Cell Development Department at Tongwei Co., Ltd.'s PV Technology Center, was invited to attend the "Top 10 Highlights" presentation event and accepted the award on behalf of the company.

During the "Top 10 Highlights" presentation event, Director Meng Xiajie shared the technical advantages of Tongwei's high-efficiency high-bifaciality TOPCon cells and modules, and pointed out that while the full-coverage polysilicon layer on the rear side of conventional TOPCon cells offers excellent passivation performance, it causes significant parasitic optical absorption, especially severe losses in the long-wavelength band, limiting further improvements in efficiency and bifaciality. Tongwei's "Textured Poly Tech" technology achieves a breakthrough through two key innovations: polysilicon finger patterning (Poly Tech) and rear-side selective texturing.

Director Meng Xiajie stated that this combined innovation delivers significant performance gains. Mass production evaluation data shows that the technology can bring an absolute efficiency improvement of 0.1% to 0.3% for cells, effectively breaking through the efficiency bottleneck. Meanwhile, it raises the bifaciality of TOPCon modules from the industry-standard 80%±5% to 90%±5%, meaning photovoltaic power plants will achieve higher overall power generation in actual operation. In real-world application scenarios, TNC modules equipped with the "Textured Poly Tech" technology can achieve an annual gain of up to 1.27% compared to conventional TOPCon modules. Tongwei's "Textured Poly Tech" has successfully overcome mass production challenges such as process alignment accuracy (±10μm), completed pilot-line verification, and is now in the critical stage of mass production ramp-up.

At the SNEC 2026 "Top 10 Highlights" Awards Ceremony, Tongwei's high-efficiency high-bifaciality TOPCon cells and modules won the "SNEC Top 10 Highlights" Terawatt-Level Award, marking authoritative industry recognition of Tongwei's "Textured Poly Tech" technology and its product innovation. The technology enables TOPCon cells to reach new heights in bifaciality while maintaining their high-efficiency advantage, significantly enhancing product competitiveness. It has been regarded as the standard configuration defining the next-generation TOPCon 3.0 cells, and its mass production application will further strengthen the mainstream position of N-type TOPCon technology in the photovoltaic market.

Through the continuous R&D and deployment of original technologies such as "Textured Poly Tech," Tongwei will continue to consolidate its technology leadership, provide customers with more cost-competitive high-efficiency products on a levelized cost of electricity basis, and drive technological progress in the photovoltaic industry and global energy structure transition through concrete actions.
