At present, against the backdrop of the photovoltaic (PV) industry accelerating towards high-quality development, the research and validation of next-generation high-efficiency battery technologies have become a crucial focus within the industry. Among them, perovskite and crystalline silicon tandem technology, with its theoretical efficiency potential exceeding 30%, is widely regarded as an innovative direction with promising industrialization prospects in the future. From November 17 to 20, during the 9th China International Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Conference 2026, the highly anticipated First China International Perovskite Industry Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as the "Perovskite Industry Exhibition") will be grandly held. Concurrently, the Third Perovskite and Tandem Cell (Southwest China) Industrialization Forum will also take place, providing a comprehensive showcase of China's technological achievements and industrialization capabilities in the perovskite industry.

From March 30 to April 1, Li Qiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council, conducted research in Sichuan. At the Tongwei Global Innovation R&D Center, Premier Li Qiang listened to an introduction regarding PV technology research and visited the workshop to inspect the development of battery modules. He stated that in recent years, advancements in PV technology have effectively enhanced the utilization level of solar energy. It is essential to vigorously support enterprises in exploring innovation, increase R&D investment, strive to overcome key technological bottlenecks, unlock various application scenarios, and accelerate the large-scale application of new technologies.

Currently, the development direction of PV cell technology is undergoing structural changes. Following the gradual maturation of crystalline silicon passivation technologies represented by TOPCon and HJT, new material structures have emerged as a crucial avenue for the industry to achieve efficiency breakthroughs. Among them, perovskite technology has laid a foundation for industrial validation and demonstrated significant potential for efficiency enhancement. As a material system, perovskite possesses characteristics such as low-temperature preparation, solution processability, and high light absorption coefficients, enabling it to surpass the efficiency limits of crystalline silicon materials and provide new growth space for the industry.

Since the beginning of this year, space-based PV has become a cutting-edge hotspot in the global PV industry, serving as a critical energy technology supporting low-Earth orbit satellites, space-based computing power, and deep-space exploration. It is regarded as a future trillion-dollar market. As a core technology for next-generation PV, perovskite and tandem cells, with their outstanding advantages such as high theoretical efficiency, light weight, flexibility, and strong radiation resistance potential, have become one of the mainstream technological routes for space-based PV in the short to medium term, perfectly aligning with the low-cost, lightweight, and high-efficiency demands of commercial aerospace. However, the current industry development still faces practical challenges, including insufficient material stability, difficulties in large-area preparation processes, the need to enhance the localization level of core equipment, and an imperfect industry standard system.

To promote the innovative development and accelerate the large-scale application of perovskite and tandem technologies, the Perovskite Industry Branch of the China International Association for Promotion of Science and Technology and the China International Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Conference have joined forces and engaged in in-depth cooperation. They will jointly host the "First China International Perovskite Industry Exhibition" during the 9th China International Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Conference 2026 from November 17 to 20.

As the first professional perovskite exhibition in China, this Perovskite Industry Exhibition will position itself with three core labels: "technology validation + scenario对接 (which means 'connection' or 'matching' in this context) + capital linkage." During the exhibition period of the Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Conference, a perovskite-themed pavilion will be planned, featuring four distinctive sections: core technology, devices and applications, demonstration projects and scenario displays, and industry-university-research collaboration and service exhibitions. Within the themed pavilion, there will be on-site seminars focused on perovskite topics, new product launches, and the inauguration ceremonies for major projects. In collaboration with the 22nd CSPV Conference hosted by the Shanghai Solar Energy Society, a dedicated perovskite industry-university-research forum will be established to interact and exchange ideas with the perovskite-themed pavilion, thereby promoting the advancement of perovskite cutting-edge technologies, application technologies, and industrialization.

This Perovskite Industry Exhibition will extensively invite perovskite industrial parks, perovskite investment institutions, parties responsible for perovskite demonstration projects, and the design institute of the new energy demonstration zone for the globally renowned Yajiang Hydropower Station Project to showcase the technological and industrialization capabilities of China's perovskite industry to property owners and financial institutions.
