Tongwei Invited to Attend 2026 Perovskite Battery Technology and Application Exchange Conference
2026-04-17

On April 14, the 2026 Perovskite Battery Technology and Application Exchange Conference—organized by the Beijing Guohua New Material Technology Research Institute (ACMI)—was held in Suzhou. The event brought together industry experts, enterprise representatives, and research institutions to jointly advance perovskite technology innovation and large-scale application. Meng Chuncai, Senior R&D Engineer at Tongwei Co., Ltd. PV Technology Center, was invited to attend and deliver a keynote speech.

During the conference, Meng Chuncai presented a keynote speech titled "Mass Production Technical Bottlenecks and Industrialization Progress of Full-Size Perovskite-Crystalline Silicon Tandem Cells". He delved into three core challenges facing perovskite-crystalline silicon tandem cells as they transition from laboratory research to mass production: selecting scalable technical routes, developing high-throughput manufacturing processes for large-area cells/modules, and establishing a verification system for long-term outdoor reliability.

"True industrialization success hinges on striking a perfect balance between high efficiency, high reliability, and low-cost manufacturing—not just chasing lab efficiency records," Meng emphasized. To address this, Tongwei has outlined a clear technical strategy leveraging its robust R&D platform and industrialization experience: by selecting a route highly compatible with existing advanced crystalline silicon production lines (especially heterojunction lines) and focusing on integrated development spanning cells, modules, and demonstration power plants—guided by end-product applications—it systematically resolves challenges across all stages of industrialization.

Meng further detailed Tongwei’s R&D roadmap and key milestones for perovskite-crystalline silicon tandem technology. He noted that Tongwei follows a steady "lab-pilot line-demo line" progression with sustained investment, having successfully commissioned the industry’s first fully automatic megawatt-class (5MW) perovskite-crystalline silicon tandem cell pilot line in September 2025—marking a new phase in the technology’s engineering-scale mass production verification.

"Our R&D is not limited to 'single-point breakthroughs'; we’ve built a technical moat encompassing the entire industrial chain," Meng said. In the module segment, Tongwei has developed ultra-low temperature interconnection technology tailored to the thermal sensitivity of tandem cells and a low-stress lamination process. It also partners with material suppliers to create specialized encapsulation materials, ensuring long-term module reliability through structural design.

Looking ahead, Tongwei’s R&D will prioritize integrating industry-leading silver-free metallization technology for continuous cost reduction and building a multi-dimensional outdoor demonstration system spanning modules to entire systems—using real power generation data to drive technological iteration and product optimization.

The conference fully showcased Tongwei’s profound accumulation and strategic layout in the cutting-edge perovskite-crystalline silicon tandem technology field. Moving forward, Tongwei will continue to strengthen its internal capabilities, lead industry technological transformation with robust R&D innovation and steady industrialization capacity, and contribute "Tongwei’s strength" to the global energy transition.
