Global Photovoltaic Technology Elites Gather! The 2nd PV CTO Summit & Technology Innovation Conference Will Be Held Grandly in November
2026-03-25

As one of the top three international events in the global PV and energy storage industry, the 9th China International Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Industry Conference 2026 will be held grandly from November 17 to 20 in Chengdu, China. As a key parallel conference, the 2nd PV CTO Summit & Technology Innovation Conference will be held concurrently. Following the first edition, which gathered global top academic authorities and industry elites including Martin Green, the "Father of Solar Energy", this year's summit will further upgrade its规格. It will invite global PV technology authorities, academicians and experts in China's PV sector, CTOs from leading enterprises and other global PV influencers to gather in Chengdu. Focusing on photovoltaic technologies such as TOPCon, Heterojunction (HJT), and perovskite, participants will conduct forward-looking discussions, explore innovation paths, and deliver a dynamic global PV technology event for the industry.

1. "Father of Solar Energy" Attended Inaugural Summit Focused on Next-Generation Mainstream Technologies

During the 8th China International Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Industry Conference 2025, the first PV CTO Summit & Technology Innovation Conference was held simultaneously. The event gathered Martin Green, the "Father of Solar Energy" and professor at the University of New South Wales (Australia), along with CTOs from leading PV companies: Song Dengyuan (CTO of Daqo New Energy), Wang Wenjing (Chief Scientist of Huasheng New Energy), Xing Guoqiang (PV CTO of Tongwei Co., Ltd.), Ouyang Zi (President of R&D Center for Products and Solutions, JA Solar Technology), Xu Weizhi (CTO of Chint New Energy), Chen Yifeng (Vice President of Trina Solar), and Tong Hongbo (Dean of the First Research Institute, LONGi Green Energy Central Research Institute). The summit became a focal point with multiple innovative speeches and technical dialogues led by CTOs, attracting widespread attention both inside and outside the industry.

2025 First PV CTO Summit & Technology Innovation Conference: "Father of Solar Energy" Professor Martin Green of UNSW delivers keynote speech

At the summit, PV technology elites delivered wonderful keynote speeches focusing on hot topics including technological innovation directions of TOPCon, BC, and HJT, perovskite tandem technology and its future development, how technological innovation can break through "involution" and support healthy industry development, as well as the PV industry ecosystem and future application scenarios. Through on-site roundtable dialogues, they shared many profound and insightful perspectives, providing new ideas for technological progress in the industry.

"Father of Solar Energy" Professor Martin Green of UNSW accepts exclusive interview with media

During the conference, Professor Martin Green stated in an interview that among current technology routes, the silicon-based route remains the most stable commercial path today. Within the silicon-based system, TOPCon will maintain its mainstream position due to its maturity, cost, and scale advantages – and this will remain unshaken for at least the next three years. A real technological bifurcation point is already taking shape: back-contact technologies (BC, TBC, HBC, etc.). The next major leap is likely to occur in the back-contact direction, as it offers greater room for efficiency improvement and can be combined with different processes, giving it medium- to long-term potential. Regarding heterojunction (HJT), he remained cautiously optimistic, noting that cost pressure still needs to be addressed, but it has an opportunity to become a major competitor if combined with back-contact or new passivation structures. As for perovskite, Professor Green directly pointed out that the biggest challenge is stability. Although small-area devices achieve impressive efficiency, achieving GW-scale production will likely require longer-term efforts.

Currently, China's PV industry is at a new inflection point: there is more competition among technology routes, the global market structure is more complex, supply chain security has become a key keyword, and the industry is seeking the next "consensus". As the foundation of consensus, technological innovation will continue to play a critical role now and in the future. The successful holding of the first PV CTO Summit & Technology Innovation Conference not only built a high-level platform for cutting-edge technical exchange and strategic collaboration in the PV field, but also injected strong impetus into PV technological innovation and continuous industry iteration.

2. Second PV CTO Summit Upgrades Again Focuses on Perovskite, Space PV and Other Hot Technologies

This year marks the beginning of China's "15th Five-Year Plan". Leveraging scientific and technological innovation to drive the development of new quality productivity has become the key to gaining the initiative in global technological and industrial competition. As a core enabler of green and low-carbon development, the PV and energy storage industry relies fundamentally on technological innovation for high-quality growth. Currently, from continuous efficiency breakthroughs in perovskite technology to PV-storage integration supporting the construction of new power systems, the PV and energy storage industry is standing at the starting point of a new round of transformation.

With this responsibility and mission, the 9th China International Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Industry Conference 2026 will be held grandly from November 17 to 20 in Chengdu, China. As a high-standard, high-level R&D exchange platform for industry technology, the 2nd PV CTO Summit & Technology Innovation Conference will be held concurrently, once again becoming a hot topic of industry attention.

Xing Guoqiang, PV CTO of Tongwei Co., Ltd., noted that building on the guest lineup and rich agenda of the first summit, the second edition plans to invite global PV technology authorities including Professor Martin Green, academicians and experts from China's PV sector, CTOs from leading enterprises and other global PV technology elites to gather in Chengdu. The summit will focus on PV technologies such as TOPCon, BC, heterojunction (HJT), and perovskite, as well as topics of industry and social concern including space PV and future energy development, to carry out forward-looking exchanges and discussions and explore technological innovation paths. The conference will fully leverage its role as a high-level platform for cutting-edge technical exchange and strategic collaboration in the PV field. With higher standards, more cutting-edge technologies, and in-depth exchanges, it will comprehensively showcase the technological iteration and innovative vitality of the PV and energy storage industry, and contribute actively to the development of China's and even the global PV industry.
