Tongwei Initiates China’s First Pig Information Pilot Project

November, 16, the project of “RFID Technique in Sichuan’s Pig Industry Application” co-operated by Tongwei Co., Ltd. and Dingtian RFID TechSystem Development Co., Ltd. was approved and granted the National Information Pilot Project. It became the first information-based project of pig industry management that makes use of National Gold Card Project for modern breeding. It also marks that Chinese government has started advanced scientific pig food industry information traceability management and supervision system. Tongwei is leading the way in this area.

The Sichuan Pig Industry Radio Frequency Identification Technology (RFID) Application Project was incorporated into the first national infomationization pilots plan by the State Development and Reform Commission Office. According to the Office, based on RFID technology, the project, namely Chunyuan Gold Card Pig project under Tongwei Co., Ltd., has established a whole-process info-retraceable information management system in the pig industry, starting from breeding, slaughter to marketing. Tongwei applies RFID technique to its breeding process for Gold Card Pork. The stored information includes sow line and boar line for the piglets, immunization information, growth cycle, slaughter process information, quarantine, as well as current position, status, price and production number of products. This not only enables consumers to clearly know about the product they purchase, but also facilitates problem solving process, if any.
