76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China
A republic that emerged from turbulent times,
now standing proudly among the world's great powers.
As one of China's few strategic emerging industries
leading global advanced technologies,
the PV sector has evolved from weakness to strength.
It has overcome external pressures and broken through foreign blockades,
and now leads global development across multiple dimensions —
from production capacity to technological sophistication
This is also a microcosm of New China's decades‑long
journey toward strength and prosperity.
From the "blue forests" rising out of barren deserts
to the "sunshine banks" adorning millions of rooftops;
from a technological frontrunner
to a cornerstone of the global market,
every leap forward in China's PV industry
resonates with the nation's developmental pulse.
Not only reshaping the global energy landscape,
but also showcasing great‑power responsibility through green momentum,
China injects a powerful surge of "Chinese strength"
into the pursuit of global sustainable development.
PART.01
Multiple world firsts demonstrate China's great‑power responsibility
Over decades of relentless effort by generations of Chinese PV pioneers, China has built the world's largest and fastest‑growing renewable energy system. By the end of August 2025, China's installed capacity for PV power generation reached 1.12 billion kilowatts, while combined PV and wind capacity totaled about 1.7 billion kilowatts — equivalent to more than 70 Three Gorges Dams. China has ranked first globally in newly added capacity for PV power generation for 12 consecutive years, and first in cumulative installed PV capacity for 10 consecutive years.

Currently, China's PV sector holds over 85% of the global market share. Its production capacity for high-purity crystalline silicon and silicon wafers exceeds 95% of the world's total, PV cells surpass 90%, and PV modules account for over 85%. Remarkably, the cell production capacity of a single Chinese factory workshop exceeds that of the entire European continent, and China's largest single production line for high-purity crystalline silicon is ten times the scale of those in Europe and the United States. In automation, digital intelligence, and product quality, China's PV industry continues to stand at the forefront of global progress.
In today's era of rapid advances in intelligent technologies, Chinese photovoltaic enterprises are taking on the role of pioneers, steering the global PV industry toward intelligent and digital transformation and upgrading. On September 16, the World Economic Forum (WEF) unveiled its latest batch of "Lighthouse Factory" designations, with 12 new factories worldwide earning this prestigious recognition. This year, TW Solar Meishan Company became the only factory in the global PV sector selected, marking the birth of the world's first Lighthouse Factory in the PV cell sector. This milestone underscores China's PV industry once again leading the world in intelligent manufacturing and digital transformation.
PART.02
From a "follower" to an "industry leader"
PV technology leads the world
Two decades ago, China's PV industry faced critical technological restrictions; today, it has built a globally leading PV technology system, completing a remarkable transformation from follower to frontrunner.
As the primary raw material for PV power generation, crystalline silicon remains central to technological breakthroughs. Tongwei's proprietary "Yongxiang Method" for high-purity crystalline silicon production successfully broke foreign technological monopolies, achieving complete domestic substitution. Currently, the Yongxiang Method for high-purity crystalline silicon production has been applied to its eighth generation, with ninth-generation R&D already completed. This technological evolution from Gen 1 to Gen 9 achieves the purity of key impurity elements in the product reaching 99.999999999%, enabling electronic-grade polysilicon to be exported overseas in bulk—truly exemplifying China's intelligent manufacturing strength in high-purity crystalline silicon.

In PV cell technology, cell efficiency records continue to be shattered. Advanced mass-produced crystalline silicon cells now exceed 25% conversion efficiency, while perovskite-based PV cell technologies have repeatedly set new world records.
Tongwei Global Innovation R&D Center maintains a comprehensive R&D portfolio covering mainstream technologies for cells and modules, including TOPCon, HJT, BC, and perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem cells, persistently pushing the technological frontier to lead the PV industry's development. On September 28, the first perovskite-crystalline silicon tandem solar cell rolled off the trial line at Tongwei Global Innovation R&D Center—the industry's first fully automated megawatt-level tandem solar cell pilot line—marking Tongwei's continued leadership in tandem solar cell industrialization. Currently, Tongwei's perovskite-crystalline silicon tandem solar cells have achieved 34.78% laboratory efficiency, with 210 half-cell prototypes reaching 28.39% full-area efficiency.

From the continuous optimization of crystalline silicon cells to the accelerated development of perovskite and heterojunction technologies, Chinese PV enterprises relentlessly overcome technical challenges, scaling new heights in PV innovation. By 2024, China accounts for nearly 60% of global PV patent applications, solidifying its technological discourse power in the industry while providing "Chinese solutions" for global PV advancement.
PART.03
From "Chinese products" to
"global contributions"
Ensuring energy security and addressing climate change are shared global challenges, while accelerating the green energy transition represents a common opportunity. China's PV development not only strengthens domestic markets but also serves as a global "accelerator" for green transformation. This year, Tongwei's TNC 2.0 modules have been shipped to Europe and Australia, strongly supporting local energy transitions. These modules integrate four core technologies—908 Technology (Tongwei's proprietary 0BB process), TPE Technology, stencil printing, and Poly Tech—achieving significant gains in module power output, conversion efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction. With unmatched efficiency, reliability, and quality, complemented by a global distribution network, Tongwei PV modules now serve over 70 countries and regions, sharing green technological achievements worldwide.

Concurrently, China-built infrastructure projects are proliferating worldwide. In the UAE, the Al Dhafrah Solar Power Project powers 200,000 households while reducing annual carbon emissions by 2.4 million tons. In Oman, the Ibri PV Project—the nation's largest renewable facility—supplies 50,000 households annually while cutting 340,000 tons of CO₂. Across Africa, Chinese-built PV installations deliver stable electricity to remote areas, powering schools and medical facilities.

From Southeast Asian distributed PV systems to European utility-scale plants, and from Latin American energy transition collaborations to African electrification projects, Chinese PV products now serve over 200 countries and regions, contributing more than 80% of global PV modules. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China-exported wind and PV products have cumulatively helped reduce foreign carbon emissions by 4.1 billion tons, injecting substantial "Chinese momentum" into global climate governance.
Harnessing Light, Powering the Future
At the intersection of China's "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" goals
and the vision of a "community with a shared future for mankind,"
China's PV industry,
empowered by the scientific force of the PV effect,
is painting a magnificent picture of harmony between humanity and nature.
